Be Cool

In this hilarious sequel to “Get Shorty”, Chili Palmer (John Travolta) decides to switch from the movie industry to the music industry. He finds his “next singing star” in Linda Moon (Christina Millian), poaches her from a rival manager, and teams up with a deceased music executive’s sexy widow (Uma Thurman) to get the singer her big break. Along the way, he has to deal with Russian wiseguys and hip hop gangstas…not to mention Linda Moon’s wiseguy-wannabe ex-manager.
A film with one great support supercast including Danny DeVito, Harvey Keitel, Cedric The Entertainer, Robert Pastorelli, Vince Vaughn, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, James Wood, and Steven Tyler. Lots of funny twists and turns, and some great character work from the cast.

When the DEA shut down its dummy corporation operation codenamed SWORDFISH in 1986, they had generated $400 million which they let sit around; fifteen years of compound interest has swelled it to $9.5 billion. A covert counter-terrorist unit called Black Cell, headed by the duplicitious and suave Gabriel Shear (John Travolta), wants the money to help finance their raise-the-stakes vengeance war against international terrorism, but it’s all locked away behind super-encryption. He brings in convicted hacker Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman), who only wants to see his daughter Holly again but can’t afford the legal fees, to slice into the government mainframes and get the money.
