My Blueberry Nights

Elizabeth’s heart is broken. For solace, she drops in late at night a few times at Jeremy’s diner for blueberry pie a la mode; they talk. Once, he watchers her sleep, her head on the counter. Abruptly, she leaves New York City to get away from her pain. She works a couple of jobs in Memphis. There, a heart-broken cop is drinking himself into oblivion, his ex occasionally showing up where he drinks and Lizzy works. Then, she’s in Nevada, working at a casino where she uses her savings (she wants a car) to stake Leslie, a busted gambler, in a high rollers’ game. After, Beth drives Leslie to Vegas where Leslie’s estranged father lives. Broken relationships. What about Jeremy?

Nights In Rodanthe

Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos, retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend’s inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her–a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and Dr. Paul Flanner arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives.

Great Expectations

Young Finn falls deeply in love with a girl named Estella, who quickly becomes his inspiration to pursue his skills in art. Over the years, Estella becomes Finn’s obsession, only to lose track of her after she moves to New York. Now a young man, Finn gets the opportunity to show his artwork in New York, because of a kind and mysterious benefactor. When he arrives, he is united with Estella, who agrees to model for him. Will what ensues may cause Finn to realize his wildly romantic dreams…or his worst fears.
Although billed as “co-stars”, both De Niro and Bancroft are absolutely superb in this movie, and their parts are so imiportant to the overall plot of the film. I highly recommend this movie!
